Non-Invasive Measurement of Hepatic Fibrosis by Transient Elastography: A Narrative Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Transient elastography by FibroScan® (Echosens, Paris, France) is a non-invasive method that can provide reliable measurement of liver fibrosis through the evaluation stiffness. Despite its limitations and risks, biopsy has thus far been only procedure able to data quantify fibrosis. Scientific evidence clinical practice have made it possible use in diagnostic work-up several diseases monitor patients’ long-term treatment response for complication prevention. For these reasons, this widely used still being investigated further applications. The aim narrative review comprehensive overview main applications transient current practice.

Assessment of hepatic fibrosis by transient elastography in rheumatoid arthritis patients receiving methotrexate

Background and Aim: Methotrexate (MTX) is commonly used in the treatment of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) but, its hepatotoxicity potential, always has been a major concern. The aim of this study is to determine the rate of liver fibrosis by transient elastography (TE) method and its relationship with cumulative dose of MTX and duration of treatment, in rheumatoid arthritis patient...

Assessment of transient elastography (FibroScan) for diagnosis of fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Background: Transient elastography (TE) is a new modality for the diagnosis of liver fibrosis caused by various etiologies. This study was conducted to determine the accuracy of TE in detecting the different stages of liver fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients. Methods: MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, Ovid, Cochrane Library, American College of Physicians (ACP) Journal Club...

Fibroscan (transient elastography) for the measurement of liver fibrosis.

NHA The Fibroscan device (Echosens) works by measuring shear wave velocity. In this technique, a 50-MHz wave is passed into the liver from a small transducer on the end of an ultrasound probe (Figure 1). The probe also has a transducer on the end that can measure the velocity of the shear wave (in meters per second) as this wave passes through the liver. The shear wave velocity can then be conv...

Non-invasive detection of liver fibrosis with transient elastography and serum markers

1. Currently available methods for the non invasive assessment of liver fibrosis include transient elastography and serum markers. 2. Two aims are clinically relevant: 1) detection of significant fibrosis (indication for antiviral treatment in chronic viral hepatitis); 2) detection of cirrhosis (indication for screening of oesophageal varices and hepatocellular carcinoma). 3. Transient elastogr...

Real-Time Tissue Elastography and Transient Elastography for Evaluation of Hepatic Fibrosis

Liver fibrosis develops as a sequel of chronic liver injury of various etiologies, including vi‐ ral infection, immunological reaction, and toxic and metabolic insults, and is characterized by the accumulation of extracellular matrix(ECM) components produced by fibroblast-like cells including activated stellate cells and myofibroblasts in the hepatic parenchyma. Hepat‐ ic fibrosis progresses to...
